Which vehicles are subject to labeling?

The obligation to affix an emissions label only applies to vehicles in class N (including N1, i.e. small trucks). For other vehicle classes, no label is required until further notice. Passenger cars (M1), buses (M2, M3), motorcycles (L) and tractors (T) are therefore exempt from the labeling requirement for motor vehicles. Historic vehicles with a vintage license plate and vintage certificate have an exemption permit to drive in the low-emission zone.

What kind of emissions label do I need?

Austria distinguishes between six levels of air pollution , which means that you can get one of six different emissions labels for your vehicle, which assign the vehicle to a certain pollutant class.

Emissions labels are issued on the basis of the EU pollutant directive (ECE regulation) . To obtain the emissions label, you only need to show the registration certificate for your vehicle (Part II) . You will then receive the corresponding sticker. To order the emissions label online , which will be sent to you by post within 5 working days , you only need to send us a copy of the registration certificate (the Euro standard should be visible: e.g. EURO 6) of your vehicle. We will determine the category of the emissions label. We also accept a CEMT or COP certificate as proof.
