Commercial vehicles of vehicle categories N and M require an Austrian emissions class sticker if they are operated in an area with a corresponding IG-L regulation and the vehicle is required to display such a sticker. The sticker indicates the actual emissions class of the vehicle and is particularly relevant for compliance with driving restrictions and exemptions in Austrian environmental zones.

Important: The law does not generally state that "every truck in Austria needs a sticker," but rather ties the obligation to the local scope of an IG-L measure

For vehicle classification, we primarily require the registration certificate. If the emissions class is not clearly indicated therein, the approval certificate (e.g., COC/EC certificate of conformity, type approval, or individual approval decision), a data extract from the approval database, or, if applicable, a corresponding CEMT certificate may also be required.

In the event of subsequent modifications or if the emissions class cannot be reliably determined from the existing documents, a manufacturer's certificate or a certificate from the Austrian authorized representative may also be required.

The delivery time depends on the inspection and assignment of the vehicle, as well as on shipping. Once all required vehicle documents have been submitted and the emission class has been clearly determined, the appropriate emission class identification sticker will be created and dispatched.

The emissions class sticker is generally affixed to the inside of the vehicle in the right-hand area of the windshield, directly next to or below the inspection sticker in accordance with § 57a KFG.

No. Each emissions class sticker is vehicle-specific and is only valid for the vehicle for which it was issued and marked. The sticker includes vehicle-specific information and the last six digits of the vehicle identification number (VIN), among other things. Therefore, each vehicle requires its own sticker.

Furthermore, attaching multiple emissions class stickers to a single vehicle is prohibited.
